Our History

The Department of Information and Document Sciences (SID) at the University of Lille is a spin-off of the University's IDIST (Information, Documentation, Information Scientifique et Technique) created in the 1990s by Professor Gérard Losfeld. The department is specialized in training for jobs in information, documentation, knowledge management, multimedia & web technologies and strategic watch

The department has been offering a wide range of training courses for several decades ranging from the BA to the Master research cycle leading to PhD in Information & Communication Sciences. Through the varied programs from Bachelor in Information and Document Sciences and Professional Bachelors, all our programs are tailored to perfect the knowledge and train the students. Thus, after a first cycle of study, it is possible to have access to master's degree tracks The first year of the master's degree in information-documentation is a common core that prepares students to access a number of professional specializations in the second year.

Master degree in Information and Document Management (GIDE) which trains information professionals, specialists in electronic document management, digital information media, knowledge management, archiving and record management, and digital humanities.

Master degree in Information and Document Management IDEMM special sized in document engineering, publishing and multimedia mediation (IDEMM) which trains web professionals with both technical and theoretical skills grounded in the theories of information and communication sciences.

Master degree in Information and Document, degree in strategic intelligence and communication which trains students in digital content management and in the design and production of information products and systems (VeCIS). In addition to these different courses, there is also a research option for the master's degree in information and documentation (RASID, Applied Research in Information and Documentation), which prepares students to carry out in-depth research projects work while at the same time they benefit from specific courses in one of the three professional tracks (GIDE, IDEMM, VeCIS).
